Usage

The Compute Outputs does all the required calculations and then updates the text output, the graph output, and displays conclusions if any. Use the Compute Outputs button whenever you have made changes to the data on your worksheet and you want to update the results displayed on the worksheet.

Editor Functions

The Editor can be used to manage your analysis worksheets. This button can be found within the Analysis set of menus on the main menu bar. Make sure to click on the bottom portion of this button to open these menu options. main menu
1
Rename: You can click on the rename to change the name of the currently active worksheet. Make sure that the names of all the tabs are unique and they don't include special characters like '\', '/', ':', etc. The length of the names for the worksheet is limited to 31 characters. Note that worksheet renaming only renames the currently active worksheet.
2
Duplicate: You can click on the duplicate button to copy your existing workbook. This will copy all your analysis data, settings, and any options and make a replica of your worksheet. You can use this to run a what-if analysis by making minor changes between worksheets to see the impact of these changes on your analysis results.
3
Delete: You can click on the delete button to permanently delete your worksheet from your workbook. For example, if you corrupted your worksheet by deleting some rows and/or columns causing the worksheet to not work anymore you can use the delete button to remove this worksheet from your workbook. Note that there is no undo button for the delete action.

FAQ

This section contains some frequently asked questions. If you have other questions about this module, please contact technical support.

I do not see any changes when I click on the Compute Outputs button.

Check the date/time field to see if the date has been updated. If the date has been updated, then the calculations have been completed. The Excel worksheet update has been turned off, so you may not notice changes to the worksheet unless all the calculations are completed. If the text output is the same and the figures are the same, you will not notice any change in the output area. The software does not append the calculations below the old calculations but replaces any calculations that were already made earlier with new values if any.

Why do we need to click on Compute Output button? Why can't Sigma Magic do this automatically?

If no worksheet input data is required, then the computations are done automatically for you. However, if any worksheet data is required, Sigma Magic does not know if you have completed entering / changing the input data cells. Hence, you have to manually click on the Compute Outputs button after you have entered all the required data.

Do I have to click on Compute Output for all tools?

If no calculations are required, then you do not need to click on Compute Outputs. However, there is no harm if you click on Compute Outputs. You may also want to look at the Conclusion box - sometimes it indicates that it expects you to click on Compute Output after entering the data.

Is there any way to undo after I click on Compute Outputs?

Once Compute Outputs are clicked, the text output and graph are updated based on changes you have made to the input data. There is NO way to get the old graph back. The back button does not work here! One option is to replace the data you have changed with the old data set and the graph will probably change back to the one you had earlier. Another option is to create a new worksheet tool for different data sets so you can retain the old worksheet graphs (if required).
