The GROW model is one of the most established and successful coaching models. The acronym GROW is for the four key steps: Goals, Reality, Options, and Will. The GROW model provides a powerful tool to highlight, elicit, and maximize potential through sequential coaching conversations. It can be used both for problem-solving and goal-setting, helping to maximize and maintain personal achievement and productivity. The GROW model raises an individual's awareness and understanding of their aspirations, current situation and beliefs, the possibilities and resources open to them, and the actions they want to take to achieve their personal and professional goals. It promotes confidence and self-motivation, increasing productivity and personal satisfaction. Continuous and progressive coaching skills support provides the structure that helps unlock an individual's true potential by increasing their confidence and motivation, leading to short-term and long-term benefits.

The worksheet contains the coaching questions that you can consider using during your coaching session. Each phase of the GROW model has some sample questions. Feel free to modify the questions per your situation and document your conversation with your coachee. You can refer to the past coaching session's responses to help you determine if the coaching sessions are progressing well if the actions that the coachee has committed to in the past sessions are being followed, and if they were effective in getting the results. The objectives in each phase are:
Goals: What is the objective of this particular coaching session? Ensure you understand from the coachee what they want to get out of this meeting. It is their meeting and not yours - so they should set the agenda for this meeting.
Reality: Get the coachee to explain the current reality. What do they think has happened so far? What have they done about this issue to date? What has worked, and what factors do they consider relevant to this issue?
Options: What options are they considering to address this issue? The objective of a coach is never to provide answers directly or solve the problem for the coachee. The coach has to think about how they can develop the capabilities of the coachee so that they can solve the problem for themselves in the future. The coach can ask them questions to get the coachee to think for themselves about what is hindering the change, what alternatives exist, and what is the best possible option.
Finally, agree with the coachee what the next steps will be, in what timeframe they will plan to act, what roadblocks they anticipate, and how they plan to overcome them.
Checklist
You will see the following dialog box if you click the Checklist button.
The checklist contains a few pointers on things you must pay particular attention to while performing this analysis. The checklist has been derived from experience working on past projects. Not all the checklist items need to apply to you. However, you should carefully review the checklist and apply any recommendations that make sense for your project. Make sure to read each checklist item and mark it as completed after you have read and taken actions as appropriate for your project.

If you click the Verify button, the software will perform some checks on the data you entered. A sample screenshot of the dialog box is shown in the figure below.
The software checks if you have correctly specified the input options and entered the required data on the worksheet. The results of the analysis checks are listed on the right. If the checks are passed, they are shown as green-colored checkmarks. If the verification checks fail, they are shown as a red-colored cross. If the verification checks result in a warning, they are shown in the orange exclamation mark. Finally, any checks that are required to be performed by the user are shown as blue info icons.
