The License Manager helps manage the license for your Sigma Magic software. The License Manager dialog box can be opened by clicking the License button in the Miscellaneous menu on the main screen.
Usage
Below is a sample screenshot of the license manager menu. When your license is not activated, you will see license details similar to those in the image below. Initially, the license manager will show that the License is not valid or inactive. The license details section contains the machine key, which is a unique 12-digit code that has been assigned to your computer.
If your computer is connected to the Internet, we recommend that you use online activation. During online activation, the software connects to the Sigma Magic server to get the details of your license key and then activates the license on your computer. If your computer is not connected to the Internet, you can refer to the section on Offline Activation.
Online Activation
Make sure that the radio button (1') is set to Online activation. You will need the License Key that you have received when you purchased the software for online activation.
1
License Key:
You need to enter the license key provided to you in this field. A license key is typically a 16-character number separated by a dash, such as 1234-5678-1254-7895. However, it can be any length as determined by the company. Note that if a previous license key is already active, you cannot enter a new one unless you deactivate the old one. The license key field is locked when the old license key is activated. Please note that the radio button below is set to 'Online'.
2
Activate Key:
After you enter the license key, click on the Activate Key to update the license key in the system. Note that Internet access is required to activate the license key. If the software cannot connect to the Internet, the license key cannot be activated. The software will verify the license key's validity on the server and then activate the license if it is a valid key. If the license key is invalid, an error will be reported, and your license key will not be activated.
Once your license key is activated, the following screenshot shows a sample dialog box of the License Manager.
The license details box contains the following information.
3
Machine Key:
The machine key is a unique key that is attached to your computer. Each computer will have its unique key.
4
Current Status:
The license status contains information about whether your license key is valid. If the current status indicates 'Valid', the full software functionality is enabled, and you can use all its features. This field will also specify the type of license you have entered on your computer.

Offline Activation
Make sure that the radio button (1') is set to Offline activation. You will need the License Key and the Machine Key (from your License Manager). Here are the steps for validating your license key offline.
Open your License dialog box and note down the machine key for the computer you want to activate the license for.
Email the technical support team with your license key that has been provided to you, along with the machine key.
The technical support team will email you back a License Code to use for activation.
Make a note of that code and enter it in the section below.
You will need to enter the License Code as shown below. Once you enter the right code on the computer with the related machine key and click on the Validate Code button, your license should now be active.
1
License Code:
You need to enter the license code provided to you in this field. A license code is typically a 16-character number separated by a dash, such as ABCD-EFGH-IJKL-MNOP. However, it can be any length as determined by the company. You will need to select the radio button below as 'Offline' to enter the license code. Internet access is not required to activate the license code. Note that the license code is tied to a specific machine key, so you will need to email the machine key to technical support, who can assist you in generating a license code for your computer. For large company accounts, you may be provided a website link, where you can create your license codes for a given license key.
2
Validate Code:
After you enter the license code, click on the Validate Code button to validate the license code entered. Note that Internet access is not required to validate the license code. If the code entered is valid, then the license will be activated on your computer. Note that if you enter the code incorrectly more than 3-5 times, a delay may be programmed into the software before you can enter or try new codes.
FAQ
This section contains some frequently asked questions. If you have any further questions about this module, please get in touch with technical support.
How do I upgrade from temporary to permanent licenses?
You can place a request on our website to purchase the license key. Your license key will be emailed to you immediately once you have entered the requested details and made the payment.
My license status shows Invalid Date even though I have a valid license key?
Some licenses rely on the date to determine if your license is valid. The software must have Internet access available to check if the system dates are accurate. If the software cannot contact our servers to verify the system date, the License Manager may display the status as 'Invalid Date'. To resolve this issue, enable Internet access and then click on Compute Outputs or the Validate Key button to reactivate the license key.
I entered a license key during online activation, but it is still not showing full functionality.
Ensure you are connected to the Internet when you validate the license key. If the software has any concerns, it may check with our server to validate the license key. The software uses the same proxy settings as Internet Explorer. If Internet Explorer can connect to the Internet, then the software should also be able to connect. Please get in touch with the help desk for further assistance if you are unable to activate the license.
What are possible reasons for not being able to activate the license key online?
Some of the possible reasons for not being able to activate the license key online are:
The computer is not able to connect to our server.
Make sure you have set up the proxy settings correctly on Internet Explorer.
The Computer server that validates the license key may be down.
You may not have the TLS1.2 turned on within Internet Explorer
You may not have the MSXML libraries installed on your computer.
