When you download and install the software, you will need a license key to use the software. This section explains how to obtain the License Key and enter it into the software. Note that this section requires Internet access. If you have a computer that is not connected to the Internet, you will need to use a different process to activate your software license, which is described in the Miscellaneous section on License Management.
Getting the License Key
Once you install the Sigma Magic software, open Excel. You should now see a menu for Sigma Magic software on your main toolbar. Click on Sigma Magic, and it will open a ribbon, as shown in the figure below.

License Key:
If you have received any license key from us, you can enter the license key in the dialog box shown here and then click on Validate Key. Note that this requires Internet access to validate your license key.

Validate Key:
If you manually enter a license key, click the Validate Key button. Note that you must have Internet access to validate and activate your license key. If the license is activated, you can start using the software's full functionality immediately. If you are unable to activate your software license key, please contact the help desk.

Request Trial:
If this is your first download of this software, you are entitled to a free 30-day trial. If you want to request a trial license key, click the Request Trial button. You will need to be connected to the Internet to request a trial license. If the request is successful, the trial period starts immediately and lasts 30 days.

Buy Now Button:
Suppose you would like to purchase a copy of the license for your use. In that case, you can click on the Buy Now button, and the software will take you to our order page on our website, where you can purchase a license key for the software depending on your needs, and the software license key is mailed to you immediately on payment.

Click on this button to open the help manual for this topic.

Cancel Button:
Click on this button to close this dialog box without taking any action. Note that if you don't have a valid license key, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this software.
Types of Licenses
Sigma Magic software offers several different types of licenses. The following table provides a brief description of the types of permits.

Trial License
The trial license is valid for 30 days and enables the software's full functionality. However, the graphs generated by this version may be converted from native Excel to image format, contain a watermark, and cannot be manually edited.

This license type is valid for one year from purchase. The user gets to use the latest software version and receives technical support.

Perpetual License
This type of license is valid for the life of the computer on which the software is installed. Users can use the version they downloaded with one year of free upgrades and technical support. Note that Perpetual license keys are typically provided to individuals and are not recommended for corporate users.

Shared License
This license type is valid for one year from purchase. The user gets to use the latest software version and receives technical support. This license key is shared between multiple users, and Internet access is required to acquire and release licenses.
Note that older software versions are not provided with security and bug-fix updates. You will need to be on the latest version of the software.

I have entered the license key and clicked on the validate key, but the license status still shows "Invalid"?
The software needs to validate the key with the Sigma Magic server. Hence, it would need to be connected to the Internet to validate the license key. If the computer is connected but you are still unable to obtain a valid status, ensure that you have the latest version of the software by clicking on Check Updates. If the problem persists, please get in touch with the Sigma Magic help desk for assistance with resolution.
What happens to the license key if my computer crashes?
The machine key is stored in your system registry, and even if your computer crashes, it should still work properly the next time you log in. If there are major changes to your hardware or software, you may need to reinstall the license key using the steps above for "Entering the License Key into the System." If this does not work, please get in touch with your Sigma Magic support desk for assistance.
I have purchased and installed the node-locked version of the Sigma Magic software on one computer. Can I move this to a different computer?
Your License Key is only valid for the computer for which it was purchased. If you want to use the software on both your home and work computers, for example, you will need to buy a new License Key for the other computer. If you experience any system issues, such as computer crashes or hard disk failure, please get in touch with the help desk, and we can arrange to transfer the license key to your new computer.
I have a computer that is not connected to the Internet. How do I activate the license key?
If your computer is not connected to the Internet, you will need to contact the technical support team and provide your unique machine key, which is assigned to your computer. They can generate a License Code for you that you can use to activate your license. Refer to the Miscellaneous section on License Management for more details.
